Whether it’s moving house, a new job role, or new owners at your favourite café, change seems to be an ever-present element of our lives.

Just the mention of change can trigger certain responses in us which we’d prefer not to experience.

Our reluctance to change is often due to one or more key factors.

  • We focus more on what we are losing than on what we could gain.
  • It challenges our desire for safety, certainty, and stability.
  • We have a poor/uncomfortable history with change initiatives.

One model for understanding how to successfully navigate the change process is Lewin’s Change Management Model.
